Course Overview

The AAT Certificate level will start to develop skills in double entry bookkeeping and give an understanding of management and administrative processes. Learners learn how to use manual and computerised accounting systems and to work with the purchases ledger, sales ledger and general ledger.

The AAT is an internationally recognised qualification amongst thousands of employers worldwide. The Association of Accounting Technicians with over 100,000 members, is the largest body of accounting technicians in the UK today.

The AAT requires members to operate to the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.
The AAT Certificate in Accounting is the first step to a career in accounting.
The AAT Certificate in Accounting consists of the following Units:

Learning Outcomes

The AAT Certificate consists of the following Units:

  • Unit 30 Introductory Accounting
  • Unit 30.1 Process sales and receipts
  • Unit 30.2 Process purchases and payments
  • Unit 30.3 Process petty cash, reconcile accounts and prepare an initial trial balance
  • Unit 32 Accounting Work Skills
  • Unit 32.1 Present Financial Data for internal and external use
  • Unit 32.2 Operate a computerized accounting system
  • Unit 32.3 Perform effectively in the workplace

Qualification

NQF Level 3 (AAT)

Duration

  • Block release of 2 days per month for 12 months. 
  • Examinations and simulations are scheduled for June and December.

Entry Requirements

Learners accessing the Certificate are assumed to be competent in Mathematical Literacy and Financial Literacy at NQF Level 4.

Certification

This is an international qualification registered in the UK and in South Africa by SAQA, SAICA and FASSET. Successful learners will receive a certificate endorsed by the Association of Accounting Technicians.
