Course Overview
Financial Accounting Technicians are in very short supply and organisations need to be provided with the type of work they do. In most cases, the Financial Accounting Technician provides a full Accounting service to a small organisation, under supervision of an off-site Chartered Accountant. This Skills course is designed to equip the learner with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to be appointed as a Financial Accounting Technician, an important role to play, either as support staff to the Accountant, or as the Accountant. This Skills course is designed with the objective of encouraging the widest possible access to the accounting profession qualifications and provides the platform towards obtaining the Diploma: Technical Financial Accounting NQF level 5.
Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate a basic understanding on South African taxation
- Identify amounts that will be included in the general and specific definition of gross income
- Demonstrate an understanding of exempt income
- Identify and calculate allowable deductions
- Identify and calculate fringe benefits and allowances
- Calculate prepaid taxes and issue a completed IRP5 to employees
- Demonstrate an understanding of taxation of a non-resident
- Demonstrate an understanding of taxation of business entities
- Complete IT12S, IT12C AND IT14 tax returns
- Demonstrate an understanding of capital gains tax
- Demonstrate an understanding of donations tax
- Demonstrate an understanding of estate duties

- 5 days contact time including facilitation and group activities
