Course Overview
This report writing course explores the typical characteristics of effective reports and explains the purpose and characteristics of different styles of reports such as recommendatory, evaluative, close-out, descriptive, investigative and analytical reports. Learners will be able to select an appropriate format for the particular needs of the report required, practise the stages of planning, drafting, editing and finalising a report and evaluate reports against criteria such as purpose, audience and applies sound principles of editing, style and language use when preparing a report. The programme also incorporates proposal writing and business planning techniques and tips
Learning Outcome
- Recognise the importance of communication in the report writing process
- Appreciate the do’s and don’ts of report writing
- Plan efficiently and effectively using a variety of analytical tools and processes
- Understand the generic components of reports
- Represent data using a wide variety of diagrams and charts
- Interrogate the validity and reliability of information compile proposals, business plans, project plans progress reports, evaluation reports, impact
- Assessment reports and research reports and include action plans, risk assessment grids and other useful components into their reports
Duration
- 2 days contact time including facilitation and group activities
- 30 days self study after which participants submit their portfolio of evidence
Accreditation
A certificate of competence will be awarded upon successful completion of a portfolio of evidence
