Mr Nick Badminton, CEO of Pick n Pay Corporate, is a speaker in the Regenesys Leadership Exchange Seminar Series.
Nick’s career with Pick n Pay started as a Trainee Manager in the Western Cape Region in 1979, after matriculating at Diocesan College (Bishops). He became an Assistant Manager in the same year.
In 1980, he received his first appointment to Store Manager, subsequently working in this position at a number of stores. In 1987, he was awarded the Pick n Pay Executive of the year Award for the Western Cape Region.
During 1988 he moved into the regional support office as a Regional Manager and the following year began his training as a Buyer. He attended the CIES Young Executive Conference in Frankfurt in 1990 and the Berlin Marketing Conference in 1995.
Nick took up the position as General Manager of the Western Cape in 1994 and in 1997 was awarded the Chairman’s Award – the highest accolade for an individual at Pick ‘n Pay.
Nick was appointed to the Retail Management Board in 1998 and became Managing Director of Pick n Pay Retail in May 2001.
During his tenure as MD of Retail, turnover at the company grew 15% compounded annually and the number of corporate outlets doubled to 265, while the company’s franchised stores grew from 97 to 206 over a six-year period.
He was made Chief Executive Designate in August 2006. He took over as Chief Executive in March 2007.
Nick is a member of CIES and enjoys cycling in his leisure time.
